2020Calendar Flowers in Four Seasons

I created a flower calendar with flowers in four seasons amoug flowers I took a shot this year.

Dimorphotheca pluvialis (Cape rain-daisy)
West Coast National Park, West Cape, South Africa

In the spring, a big colony of Asteraceae flowers is blooming in a cape that protrudes into the Atlantic Ocean. Various color flowers like white Demorphoseca, purple Felisia and orange Gazania are blooming at one time. It's just a paradise.
As the petals close as rain approaches, Demorphoseca is called weather forecast profe (the weather forecastt).

Pulsatilla cernua (Pasque flower) "Okina-gusa"
Takaoka Town, Miyazaki Pref. Japan

White fluff grows on leaves and stems. The fruit grows long like a cocoon. The name was given because it resembles an old man's (gOkinah in Japanese) hair.

Shobara City, Hiroshima Pref. Japan

In Japan, there are four kinds of this species. The feature is that the sepal is shorter than the petal. It collects solar heat at the center and attracts insects.

Mt. Rokumangi, Minam Uonuma City, Niigata Pref. Japan

It is an endemic species of Japan, and grows naturally along Japan Sea side. Seeds taste sweet and ants carry it back to the nest, which leave descendants in a wide range.

Put a small tube-shaped flower around the stem . The leaves are as thick as succulent plants. Native to the Cape region of South Africa. The colors vary from purple to red.

Once being seen in sunny side slopes of lower mountains nation-wide in Japan, it is drastically reduced by overfishing and stealing because it is dealt with expensive price.

Seji-La, Linzhe City, Tibet China

It grows on a rocky mountain slope in Tibet and Yunnan of China.
It is very close to Meconopsis horridula, so once called Pseudo horridula. Specchiosa means gbeautifulh in Latin.

Meconopsis henrici
Zhedou-shan Pass, Kuangding City, Sichuan Province, China

This species was named after an explorer and biologist Henry, the Prince of France. In 1890 he explored in Sichuan Province of China and found this flower.

Meconopsis torquata
Northern suburb, Lhasa City, Tiebet, China

This is the first observed 75 years ago by the famous plant hunter George Sheriff at a galley on the outskirts of Lhasa.
This species is named after its blue petals like turquoise.

Grows in wet valleys and wetlands.The edges of the petals are cut into threads. The scientific name Parnassia is named after the Parthenon in Greece.

Kozagawa Town, Wakayama Pref. Japan

The name was given because the reddish brown spots inside the petals resemble the pattern of the chest hair of a bird. Nearby there is a world heritage, Kumano Kodo.

Mt. Kumazawa, Komagane City, Nagano Pref. Japan

In summer it puts small white flowers with green leaves, which changed to crimson flames in the fall. This tree does not burn out even put into stove seven times.
The mountain behind is Mt. Utsugi.

North Cape Province, South Africa

Native to Namaqualand, South Africa. Blooming in the dry land where quartz is bared. Leaves are succulent and contain cells for sequestering salt. The surface appears to be frozen, so it is also called an ice plant.
